"Alright, missed your once-in-a-life-time chance." Rick turned back to his human form. Somewhere along the way he lost his shirt, but thankfully his pants were still on. "Man, another shirt? Oh well...um, that was rude of me not introducing myself, huh? I'm Rick Sheridan, 'Bloodhound'." He smiled. "I don't remember seeing you around...or smelling you. New?"

The Russian raised an eyebrow at the canid teen. Kids these days really did look for any excuse to loose their shirt, it seemed. He leaned back against a counter, watching the two with calm grey-blue eyes. The girl still hadn't answered his question... He surprised himself suddenly, realizing he didn't even know her name. Hmm.

Athena nodded, unsurprised at Rick's curiosity. Peter had been just as curious, and she had been going to ask him the same question, had the shape shifter not beaten her to the punch. "Yeah, I'm new; just got here a few days ago. Athena DeCosta - glad to meet you.", the pierced teen said, smiling slightly at the two males as she leaned against the counter slightly. She suddenly wished she didn't smell like burnt t-shirt, or burnt anything, realizing with a flash of embarrassment that that had probably been what had attracted Rick. Which was an odd thought, but one she supposed she would have to get used to, living in Xaviers'.
"I can't really do what you two can.", she added, guessing what his next question was going to be, and remembering she hadn't yet answered Peters' last question. "My powers kind of...change."

"I've been here for a month now, not really a senior either. Change, huh?" Rick tilted his head with an expression puppies had. Sometimes he forgot which form he was in. "Like, say, rolling a dice kind of change?"

Athena... so that was her name. It was beautiful; the Greek goddess of wisdom and war. Interesting. Now that Rick had appeared, he kind of faded into the background, listening intently but letting the younger mutant ask all the questions. To him, three was a crowd, and he didn't feel as confident in himself. Rick was asking all the questions he wanted answered anyways, even if not in the way he himself would have asked them.

Athena blinked, then nodded; she had never thought of it that way. Mostly, she had thought of her powers as 'lucky if they do what I want them to do' and unlucky...pretty much every other time. Including earlier that day whenshe had accidentally lit her t-shirt of fire. Remembering the incident, the peirced girl hoped her trashcan wasn't going to melt or go up in flames or anything; that would probably not reflect well in Xaviers' eyes. Or anyone who might have roomed with her, though Athena wasn't sure that was a bad thing.
"Yeah, kind of. But I don't think it has any set bunch of powers - so far, it's just been random stuff. Flame-power, flying - I accidentally smashed through a wall once...", Athena excaberated, grinning ruefully at the memory. The look on that kids' face! Priceless. (Of course, the free veiw of the locker rooms before she got expelled hadn't been bad, either.)

"That sounds cool!" Rick was fascinated by all the other mutant's powers. He ran away from home to meet them after all. He managed to calm down a little. "Your life must be exciting everyday."

At this, the formerly happy teenagers' face turned dark. Images flashed through her head; her dad's funeral, all those places they had had to move to over the years, her powers erupting suddenly, the ensuing disasterious side-affects...With a shake of her head, Athena frowned and dislodged those images, mentally shoving them away. Those were things to dwell on on dark days, when it rained and poured and everyone else was as depressed as you because of the crappy things in their life. Not for when she was talking in the kitchen, tossing an apple between her hands.
"No, not really. I burnt another t-shirt this morning, and my cigarettes nearly exploded yesterday when I lit one...", she said, face grimacing as she thought of the more recent events. At least she hadn't singed her eyebrows again.

Being a simple-minded young guy, Rick didn't notice Athena's brief change in mood. "Well, that can be troublesome, and it explains the burnt scent." Rick wrinkled his nose and sniffed the air with a funny face. "I'm guessing you two didn't come down here just to stare at the refrigerator, huh? Anything good? I'd love some ham or Innova, Blue Buffalo..." He started a rambling rampage of dog food brands.

Athena blushed; did she really smell that bad? Ug. Maybe it was because she smelled like burnt clothes that everyone seemed to be avoiding her...Or, common sense said as it kicked in over self-pity and embarresement, that Rick could probably smell her so well because he could shift into a dog. After that, the peirced mutantess only felt a bit of annoyance towards Rick; was subelty foriegn to him, or something?
"I just came in here to get some breakfast.", the teen said, shrugging. She hadn't been around long enough to snoop through the fridge or pantry, and didn't recognize brand-name dog food because, well, she had never had a dog. Or a cat. Or anything larger or harder to move than a goldfish, and that had died after a month.

Rick hunted through the cabinet and pulled out a bag of bagels. "Want some? I can toast it for you." He put the bag on the counter and went to find the cream cheese. "Ummm...Peter, you know where's the cream cheese?"

Peter glanced up, blue-grey eyes landing on Rick. "Top shelf of the fridge." He replied automatically. He had lived here longer than most of the other children, and they often asked him about things around the house. Cream cheese was a new one, though. Mostly it was 'Where's the bathroom?'. The kids were usually hungry enough just to eat whatever they found, they weren't often too picky. "We might be out." He added, unsure. It was hard to keep track of who had eaten what with so many kids going in and out all the time. They were almost always out of something or other.

Athena sat her apple down on the table - missing the bowl - and reached for the bag of breaded goodness Rick had set down. Fishing through the ba, she pulled out two bagels - one for her and Rick, because she knew they both wanted one. The teen turned slightly, and arched a questioning eyebrow at Peter.
"Want one? They're blueberry.", she asked.

Peter shook his head. "I've eaten already, thank you." Blueberry bagels did sound good, but contrary to how he looked, he had a rather slow metabolism. He had to eat small doses of high-calorie foods to keep his energy up and to keep healthy. He usually woke up early to beat the breakfast rush in the mornings. Usually at this point during the day he would be training with Wolverine or Storm in the Danger Room, but Storm had a class and he really had no clue where Wolverine was.

Athena shrugged, and twisted the end of the open package closed, tucking the end under the bottom and placing it back on the table. Foregoing the use of knives, she decided to experiment. "I have an idea - watch this...", she told the two males, and curled her free hand into a fist. Closing her eyes, the teenager picture her mothers' father - her grandfather, the infamous Wolverine, whom she had met but once - and all of the video's she had seen of him. (Usually these were on anti-mutant websites, showing how dangerous mutants could be, but they did serve a purpose for giving her ideas.)
With a 'snikt', two claws popped out from between her middle knuckle and the two on either side. But Athena didn't grin; she cursed, and clutched her hand. "Goddamn, that hurts! Arg!", she growled, fist clenching against the pain. She didn't notice the small, scarlett ribbons tracing a path down the back of her hand. 'Note to self; never do something like this again!'
