Iris grinned once Kindle came after her. Brute force was predictable within the angry types of people. She semi-jumped to the side in order to avoid his attack and one more to end up behind him. She let out a laugh, definatly enjoying this now. Darkfire made no attempt in order to attack, not yet anyways. She wanted to see if the male would continue to use brute for, or eventually get tactical.
There was something that had caught her attention how ever. Iris turned her head over to Athena, arching a brow. Who was she? It really didn't matter at this point, as long as Kindle didn't notice he had a chance to hit her.

James really had no self control. There were some days when he wished he could have it, just so he didn't end up in pointless fights like this. But oh well, livened the day up didn't it? Snorting he turned at her again, one fist tucked close to his body for defense, the other lashing out at her again. He'd only use tactics if he needed to. Let her think of him what she would.

Being distracted by Athena, Iris had taken the hit. She was thrown off her balance and landed on her bottom, never really fealing the heat of Kindle's power.
"Cheap shot" She muttered, rubbing her jaw. Darkfire shifted her body and lunged upwards at Kindle, attempting to jab him in the gut. Whether or not if she hit she jumped back carefully watching the male.

James felt satisfied as his fist cracked across her jaw, and was startled when she actually got up to fight him. He had a feeling this was going to take more out of him than he wanted. "Not my damn fault you got distracted." And he danced back a few paces to avoid her punch, at the very least he had agility on his side. Being short and lean helped a whole shit ton when fighting.

Iris ignored the crowd that seemed to grow as the fight went on. She smiled, slightly bouncing from side to side. She waited to se it Kindle would come in for an attack. Appearently not for the moment.
"I know, I know." Iris glanced around, seeing if there was anything to use to her advantage. Cureently there was nothing yet. She turned her attention back to her oppenent. Darkfire lunged at Kindle's right, hoping to get his defense there. Instead of attacking his right she had suddenly lunged to his left, throwing a quick strike.

James stood his ground until she made her move, moving to the right to try and hit her, and then jerking aside to miss her own attack from the left. Smooth, but not quick enough. Her fist has grazed his side. It hurt, sure, but it was nothing compared to what it could have been.
He had both fists up, ready to attack or defend. Honestly, though, he hadn't eaten yet and his stomach kept reminding him that he'd been on his way to lunch. "Let's make this quick huh? Let me beat the crap outta you, and get the fuck lost."

So Darkfire had misjudged the male. He didn't quite use brute force, and this killed her assumption. Iris turned to face Kindle once he had moved out of the way.
"Oh you only wish I'd give in easily." She didn't lunge after him again. Maybe she could scare him. "Truth is, I don't succumb to what others want." Iris said, raising her right hand to eye level. The white of her eyes filled in purple and glowed dimly as her raised hand caught a-flame. This could've been a mistake for Iris and her lifestyle around here, but she really wasn't think of it at the moment.
"I've got fire, and i'm not afraid to use it."

She had fire? Fuck. Scowling he let his hands tingle with warmth, but refused to let his gift free. He'd be laughed at. He was sure she would too. She was the type. "Yeah? Well fuck your fire." He could fight and win even with her using her powers, right? I mean....every mutant he ran into had a better power than him. And he'd won those fights.
The people watching were either very brave, or very stupid. Watching two mutants duke it out in the middle of a hot afternoon was not a good way to live long prosperous lives. Especially not with two fire users. Even if his powers were ridiculously stupid. "I don't need my powers to kick your ass."

Athena debated backing out of the crowd and heading back the Institute. Then things got interesting; the two were nearly screaming to all present they had powers. Maybe the humans didn't get see their talk as anything more than boasting - and it might be just that - but a mutant would get the implications. As usual, the spiky haired teen felt a stab of envy at the other mutated New Yorkers'. At least they had powers that worked; at least they knew what their damn power was.
So she stayed, watching from the sidelines, in the front of the crowd.
